The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library was established to make available to the public in a suitable place the collection of papers and the library resources for serious study and research. From its inception it was conceived as a premier research centre for facilitating research in modern and contemporary history. The Research and Publications Division strives relentlessly in this direction to achieve this foundational objective of the institution.
The Research and Publications Division monitors the ongoing research projects of our institution, publishes research documents and is also responsible for organizing seminars and lectures. Over the years, we have published various books on relevant themes of historical and contemporary significance along with the selected works of important leaders such as Motilal Nehru, Jayaprakash Narayan and Acharya Narendra Deva with the help of the vast archival collections. At present this Division is engaged in several research projects including the publications of the Selected Works of C. Rajagopalachari , Selected Works of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Selected Works of Syama Prasad Mookerjee. The Research and Publications Division also publishes the Occasional Papers in four series. One of its constituent units, Centre for Contemporary Studies (CCS), runs various fellowship programmes and also organizes various academic activities such as conferences, seminars, book discussions, etc.
