The Prime Ministers Museum and Library, formerly known as Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, established in 1964 at Teen Murti House in memory of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. With the inauguration of the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya on 14 April 2022, the institutional mandate was expanded to commemorate the leadership and contributions of all Prime Ministers of India.
Located within the historic Teen Murti campus, the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya presents India’s democratic journey through the lives and public service of its Prime Ministers. Organised into two blocks, the museum combines historical scholarship with contemporary museum practices and digital technology to create an engaging and inclusive visitor experience.
Block I focuses on the formative years of independent India and includes exhibits on the making and makers of the Constitution, a dedicated gallery on Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, and the Toshakhana gallery displaying historically significant gifts and artefacts. Block II presents a chronological narrative of Prime Ministers from Lal Bahadur Shastri to Shri Narendra Modi, highlighting key initiatives, leadership challenges, and contributions to nation-building.
An integral experiential component of the Sangrahalaya is the Anubhuti Section, which features immersive and interactive installations such as VR rides, Walk with the Prime Minister, Photo with the Prime Minister, robotic handwritten letter, and AI-based holobox presentations of national leaders including Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, aimed at deepening public engagement with democratic values and governance.
The Sangrahalaya also hosts a Light and Sound Show. Navya ki Udaan highlights India’s space journey, while “Veeranganaon ki Mahagatha” (showcases the valour and contributions of women warriors of India.)
The Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya is open to the public on all days except Mondays. Information on visiting hours, entry charges, ticketing, and other details is available on the official website (https://www.pmsangrahalaya.gov.in). Various visitor facilities including shuttle services from Central Secretariat Metro Station, wheelchair accessibility, drinking water, cafeteria, canteen, locker facility, among others are available to the visitors in the campus.
