Research

The Research Section undertakes various projects to publish the speeches and writings of prominent national leaders in the form of different Selected Works. It involves careful selection of relevant documents, annotations and preparation of typescripts. So far we have completed the projects of Selected Works of Motilal Nehru, Selected Works of Acharya Narendra Deva and Selected Works of Jayaprakash Narayan. At present, work on the Selected Works of C. Rajagopalachari and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Chayan Sangrah are being carried out by the section. For these projects the Section primarily utilises the private paper collections preserved at the PMML.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee Chayan Sangrah

Atal Bihari Vajpayee is known in Indian politics, not only for his political skills but also for his multifaceted personality and open heartedness. Besides holding prominent political positions, including that of the Prime Minister of India, he remained the ‘Voice of Opposition’ for nearly forty years of his political life. The Prime Ministers Museum and Library has commissioned a project for the publication of Selected Works of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2019. The project will be carried out in two parts; part one would comprise of a collection of speeches and debates of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the Parliament and part two will be a collection of writings and speeches of Atal Bihari Vajpayee outside the Parliament. The first series (Sansad Mein Ataljee) consisting of nine volumes has been published. We are working on the second series of the project i.e., Jansamvad.
